Sustainability

As a paper manufacturer, Arjowiggins is dedicated to protecting and respecting the environment. We have made it our mission to preserve valuable resources and to minimise the energy consumption and emissions of our mills. Our smart papers are free from plastic, free from aluminium, ecofriendly and made in Europe.

Our certificates:

ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001 certified

All of our mills are ISO 9001 (Quality standard) and 14001-certified (Environmental standard). Our Stoneywood Mill is ISO 50001-certified (Energy standard) and ESOS compliant.

OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series)

Stoneywood Mill is OHSAS 18001 compliant and meets the International occupational health and safety management system.

Fully FSC™-certified (Forestry Stewardship Council)

All of our products are made of materials from well-managed, FSC-certified forests and other controlled sources. This guarantees that pulp is sourced from well-managed forests and a socially responsible chain of production, from seedling to paper. Chain of custody certification from forest.

PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification)

PEFC seeks to transform the way forests are managed globally – and locally – to ensure that all of us can enjoy the environmental, social, and economic benefits that forests offer.

REACH

All Arjowiggins’ mills comply with the REACH European regulation which covers registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction processes for chemical substances and risk of hazardous substances.

ECF (Elemental Chlorine Free)

All our papers are ECF. Our production processes do not use elemental chlorine gas during the bleaching process, preventing the formation of dioxins, dioxin-like compounds and carcinogens.

RoHS-compliant

Stoneywood Mill, which manufactures our smart paper range, is RoHS Kitemark-compliant. The EU directive for the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment, known as RoHS, is designed to protect human health and the environment, and is linked to the directive on the disposal of electrical and electronic waste. It controls the use of certain hazardous substances – including metals and manufactured chemicals (Restrictions of Hazardous Substances)

EN 13430

Our smart papers conform to the EN13430 standard according to the format. The EN 13430 specifies the conditions for the “recycling” of the packaging that allows the recovery of all or part of its raw materials.
